While good physical health is never possible without balanced state of mind and spirit, it is physical health that people refer to when they are asked of what they wish and desire the most for themselves. Physical pain and suffering are among our worst fears. Being an internist for more than 20 years, I observed many ways of how my patients dealt with ailments, recovered from serious illnesses or managed to stay well.
No medical book or lecture can tell us what every person experience could be, but, with great gratitude to my patients that taught me so much, I would like to share few observations.
1. Everything that happens to us today has something to do with what happened to us all the days lived before. Healthy people tend to learn more from the past.
2. Anybody can influence what happens in their life tomorrow.
3. Never take good health for granted – it was not promised.
4. Repetition is the key – for good outcomes and for bad once. Brushing your teeth daily will decrease chance of premature decay, eating in a fast food restaurant will eventually give you heartburn and extra weight.
5. Your routines and habits are affected by routines and habits of people around you.
6. One always has a choice.
